#ReimagineU – The Future of Higher Education and Talent Development

COVID-19 has been the impetus behind the acceleration of paradigm shifts that we have been witnessed in recent years in education, career and talent development, and the world of work. These shifts are changing how people design their lives and careers, how universities structure curricula and academic experience, and how organizations hire and retain talent. Based on his research and extensive experience at Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Florida, Dr. Farouk Dey shares future trends in higher education and the world of work, how people and organizations can leverage the current context to design new pathways, and inequities in life and career outcomes for under-represented minorities that are largely due to corporate structures and the transactional systems in education and talent acquisition. In the new and evolving digital age, equity must be our ultimate vision and outcome, scale should become our main value proposition, data drives our decisions and resources, and the path to one’s life purpose must transcend conventional transactional approaches in order to be accessible to all regardless of background or social capital.

Reconnecting to Your Own Career Journey

In a poll conducted by Gallup last year, it was revealed that only 36% of a random sample of American employees report genuine enthusiasm and commitment to their job. Are you one of the actively engaged, or has some of your passion and energy been snatched by the past year’s multitude of challenges?

This session will provide the space and literal breathing room to pause and assess your own work life in the wider context of the pandemic and in the specific framework of your own career progress. We will use mindfulness and reflection to tap into what you love about your work and what talents make you feel alive, and break into small groups to offer and receive suggestions about how to renew your satisfaction with work. Flow, values, and daily gratitude are some of the concepts we will discuss as paths to increased happiness and engagement.
